What is nCoV?
As per WHO ( World Health organization, WHO) report, on 31 December 2019, China Country Office was informed of cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology (unknown cause) detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. Evidence suggested that the chinese outbreak was associated with exposures in one seafood market in Wuhan.
A novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was identified as the causative virus by Chinese authorities on 7 January 2020 with clear evidence of human to human transmission.(1)
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illnesses ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV) .
Chinese novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.(2)
Sources of the virus:
Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans.(2)
Signs & symptoms (2):
Fever,
Cough,
Shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.
incubation period is from 1 day to 14 days
WHO advice to contain the spread of infection (2) :
To contain the further spread following measures have been suggested by WHO for health care workers and general public
Frequently clean hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water;
When coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – throw tissue away immediately and wash hands;
Avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough;
If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your health care provider;
When visiting live markets in areas currently experiencing cases of novel coronavirus, avoid direct unprotected contact with live animals and surfaces in contact with animals;
The consumption of raw or undercooked animal products should be avoided. Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices.
WHO does not recommend any specific health measures for travelers. In case of symptoms suggestive of respiratory illness either during or after travel, the travelers are encouraged to seek medical attention and share their travel history with their health care provider.
Do you have any preventive for coronavirus in homoeopathy??
As per the latest press release by Ministry of AYUSH ( Government of India); CCRH ( Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy) has recommended that homoeopathic medicine Arsenicum album 30 could be taken as prophylactic medicine against Coronavirus infections, which has also been advised for prevention of ILI ( based on the extensive study and data collected during the swine flu epidemic from 2009 - 10)(4) . It has recommended one doze of Arsenicum album 30, daily in empty stomach for three days. The dose should be repeated after one month by following the same schedule incase Coronavirus infections prevail in the community.
